Job Description
The Associate Director of Nursing Education oversees the assessment, planning, health system nurse residency and central nursing orientation programs. The Associate Director provides focus on the implementation and evaluation of medical center wide nursing orientation (University Hospital, East, Ross, Dodd, Harding, James and Brain and Spine Hospital) and the health system nurse residency program by ensuring: selecting the best available evidence for effective training and education delivery, appraises the strength and quality of the education delivery system, and helps staff incorporate research, expert opinion, practice guidelines, process improvement and organizational experience into nursing practice. This individual will be responsible to collect, analyze and report outcome data on a regular basis to evaluate the effectiveness of the nurse residency program and central nursing orientation program. The Associate Director, Nursing Education serves as a leader and mentor both within the department and throughout the Medical Center. They demonstrates knowledge and skill in adult learning principles, nursing theory and practice to support the education and professional development of staff.

Master's Level Degree
Required Qualifications
Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio. Masters Degree in Nursing required; Doctoral degree preferred (PhD, DNP). Professional certification preferred and required within two years of hire. Previous experience in acute care staff development/education preferred. Strong leadership, facilitation and presentation skills required. Preferred 2 years progressive leadership experience including experience developing nursing education programs based on adult learning principles and systems. Skilled in program planning, project management, and leading nursing and interdisciplinary teams; previous experience in an academic medical center and/or a health system preferred.
