Position Summary
Trauma burn stepdown is a 16 bed Silver Level Beacon Awarded unit for Clinical Excellence. On this unit you will care for vented and trached patients, manage arterial lines (A lines), heparin, insulin, and amiodarone drips as well as ketamine drips for our burn patient population. We are a great unit to establish a foundation for any ICU or higher level of care or for those who have a passion for wound care.

The student nurse intern performs general patient care such as, hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and increased/constant observation in a basic role with the guidance and mentoring of the Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
• Provides routine treatments and interventions consistent with the educational level and skills learned in the academic environment and demonstrated competency through Orlando Health.
• Performs advanced skills after achievement of demonstrated competencies such as: nasogastric tube irrigation, suctioning, and removal; wound irrigation; complex dressing change without packing of wounds; maintenance of enteral tube feeding (Dobhoff, Nasogastric, and Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy); and tracheostomy care.
• Assists patients with hygiene, mobility, and nutritional needs.
• Maintains safety and security of patients, families, self, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Participates in handoff report and purposeful hourly rounding on patients.
• Provides exceptional service and or care to all patients, families, customers, and team members.
• Provides exceptional service and or care to all patients, families, customers, and team members.
Other Related Functions
• Participates in nursing Performance Improvement (PI) activities as assigned.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population of patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Qualifications
Education/Training
• Nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program at a college or university.
• Must have completed a minimum of one semester of nursing clinical rotations.
• Proof of continued enrollment in accredited pre-licensure, professional nursing program with no break in enrollment to exceed one year.
Licensure/Certification
Maintains current BLS/Healthcare provider certification.
