The Senior Manager, Academic Technologies is responsible for the operational management and implementation of the University's learning management system (LMS) and other supported academic technologies. This includes overseeing the implementation, support, development, training, and ongoing enhancement of these systems, working within the strategic vision of the unit. The Senior Manager will collaborate closely with faculty, students, and staff to identify needs, implement solutions and promote the effective use of academic technologies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Senior Manager, Academic Technologies is responsible for the following technical and professional duties:
Manage the day-to-day administration and support of the University's LMS including system configuration, user management, troubleshooting, and issue resolution. Oversee the helpdesk team’s efforts in providing first-line support and resolving user issues.
Implement and integrate new learning technologies and tools as directed. This includes working with vendors, managing projects, and ensuring seamless integration with the LMS.
Collaborate with faculty, students, and academic departments to understand their needs and provide support and guidance on the use of academic technologies, informing leadership of emerging needs and trends. Work closely with helpdesk and technical teams to gather feedback.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of the direct reports, including hiring, training, evaluation, and termination.
Implement projects related to LMS upgrades, integrations, and new technology implementations, ensuring alignment with the overall departmental strategy.
Maintain relationships with LMS vendors and other technology providers. Ensure system uptime and performance meet established SLAs.
Evaluate usage of academic technologies, and be aware of contract requirements, to ensure the tools are within the allocated resources and guidelines.
Develop metrics to assess the effectiveness of academic technologies, and helpdesk, and report on key performance indicators. Analyze data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvements.
Inform and execute the department-wide policies and strategic vision for academic technologies contributing to the overall departmental goals.
Deliver comprehensive training opportunities for faculty and staff on the effective use of the LMS and other supported learning platforms. Maintain training materials, including online tutorials, documentation, and workshops.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or any appropriate combination of relevant work experience or education.
Experience
A minimum 7 years of relevant experience
Relevant experience may include a combination of the following: system administration/configuration, technical support, process improvement, faculty development, project management, business analysis.
Experience with system administration of learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle) and/or enterprise systems preferred.
Experience working in a higher education setting and supporting preferred

Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex technical concepts in easy-to-understand terms.
Strong project management skills, including experience managing complex technology implementations and upgrades.
