Job Summary
- Assists with medication preparation, repacking, and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist
- Supports medication reconciliation and clinical monitoring to assure medications are safe and effective
- Adheres to state and federal regulations. Reports to the Director of Pharmacy
Essential Functions
- Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication
- Prepares and delivers medications to patient care units as appropriate
- Restocks and manages expiration dating in automated medication dispensing machine inventory
- Orders and stores medications
- Properly unit doses medications that do not come prepackaged
- Processes records of medication dispensed to patient, computes charges, and generates required computer reports as needed
- Performs backup procedures correctly
- Monitors drug therapy for appropriateness under the supervision of the licensed pharmacist
- Provides and documents clinical interventions, therapy recommendations, and other clinical activities according to department policy and procedure and state regulations
- Participates in the Medication Reconciliation activities of the Pharmacy Department
- Prepares sterile and non-sterile compounds per USP standards
- Maintains positive relationships with all customers
- Complies with regulatory and accreditation standards

Salary Range: $21.00 - $26.63/Hour

QualificationsEducation
- Actively enrolled in or graduate of ACPE accredited college of pharmacy or FPEGC certification
Licenses/Certification
- Pharmacy Intern Licensure as required by the state
- BCLS certification
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital pharmacy setting preferred
- Basic understanding of the role of and use of a computer in the processing of prescription orders with minimum word processing skills
