Lab Point of Care Coordinator – St. Francis Downtown
The Lab Point of Care Coordinator is responsible for the coordinator of point of care testing. This support crosses multiple laboratory and clinic locations. As the Lab Point of Coordinator, it is important to provide technical resources and daily direction to the correct staff member(s) with regard to laboratory policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Works with nursing, physicians, employees, and management as needed to ensure Point of Care testing is running efficiently and effectively
- Ensures timely reporting, read back, and documentation of critical tests and results
- Implements Point of Care devices, instruments, and processes
- Complies monthly workload and Quality Assurance and Quality Control reports
- Develops, evaluates, and revises all processes or procedures; collects and analyzes data promptly
- Maintains, troubleshoots, and takes corrective action with equipment as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Education
Associates in Medical Laboratory Science/Biology/Chemistry/Microbiology (required)
Bachelors, Medical Laboratory Science/Biology/Chemistry/Microbiology (preferred)
Work Experience
4 years of lab tech experience (required)
Certifications:
Medical Lab Technologist (MLT) or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) certification by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) required
Skills & Abilities:
- Encourages other lab personnel to work towards professional growth and development by sharing information
- Ability to work independently within a team and strong attention to detail
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-pasted environment
- Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
